Wadi Talla and Galt al-Azraq: A Multi-Day Trek in the High Mountains

Wadi Talla and Galt al-Azraq belong to the high-mountain trekking network around Saint Catherine. Galt al-Azraq—the Blue Pool—is a natural mountain pool reached through wadis and passes, often as part of a multi-day guided circuit rather than a quick roadside stop.
Routes vary. Programmes may connect gardens, valleys and camps over two or three days, and the water level changes with rainfall. Ask for the exact itinerary, daily walking hours and camping setup instead of relying on one route name.
Multi-day trekking adds demands that a day hike hides: foot care, recovery, food, pack organisation and cold nights. Carry personal water capacity even when guides expect a working source.
A local Bedouin guide is essential for route knowledge and arrangements. The point is not simply to reach a blue pool. It is to move through a mountain landscape where gardens, paths and water have been understood and maintained by local communities for generations.
