Wadi Wishwashi: The Seasonal Green Lake in Nuweiba’s Mountains

Wadi Wishwashi, near Nuweiba and Taba, is known for a rain-fed pool often called the Green Lake or Lost Lake. The key fact is seasonal: water level and colour depend on rainfall, so no honest guide should promise the same swimming scene every day of the year.
Reaching the pool involves hiking through a rocky canyon and may include scrambling, narrow passages or ropes depending on the route and current condition. It is not a casual beach walk.
Go with a local guide who has checked the wadi recently. Flash-flood risk, rock condition and water depth cannot be judged from an old video. Wear shoes with grip, carry water and protect electronics.
If the pool is low, the trip is not a failure. The canyon, granite walls and approach are the experience. Treat the water as a natural feature, not a managed swimming pool, and never jump before a guide has checked depth.
