Eel Garden and Lighthouse: Two Smart Introductions to Dahab Shore Diving

Lighthouse and Eel Garden explain why Dahab is known for shore diving. Lighthouse sits close to the centre and is widely used for training, check dives, night dives and relaxed reef exploration. The easy logistics do not mean the reef is disposable: good buoyancy and careful entry still matter.
Eel Garden, farther north, is known for a sandy channel and garden eels that rise from the seabed when divers keep their distance. Approach slowly. If the group rushes toward them, the eels simply disappear into the sand.
Together, the two sites teach different habits. Lighthouse is practical for refreshing skills and getting comfortable with local conditions. Eel Garden rewards patience, quiet movement and observation.
Photographers should avoid chasing wildlife for a closer frame. A longer working distance, controlled breathing and time in one position usually produce a more natural image—and a better dive for everyone around you.
