Dahab Blue Hole: A Real Dive Icon, Not an Arch Challenge

The Blue Hole is famous because deep water sits unusually close to shore, with a dramatic outer reef and the classic Bells route nearby. Recreational divers, freedivers and technical divers all use the site, but they do not follow the same plan.
The Arch is not a recreational milestone. It lies at technical-diving depth and should never be presented as the natural next step after an advanced course. A recreational diver can have an excellent wall dive, cross the shallow Saddle and stay safely inside certification, gas and depth limits.
Freedivers come for accessible depth and generally sheltered water, but that convenience does not make solo training acceptable. A proper line, trained buddy, safety diver and clear recovery plan matter on every deep session.
If you have been out of the water, start with a check dive. On an open drop-off, depth can build quietly. Watch the computer and gas, stay close to the guide, and treat the Blue Hole with respect rather than bravado.
