Nuweiba and Ras Shitan: Slow Travel with Snorkelling and Kayaking

Nuweiba and Ras Shitan suit travellers who want the sea without a packed schedule. The camps along the coast vary widely—from very simple huts to more comfortable rooms—so the name “camp” does not describe one standard.
Ask about the beach entry, electricity, bathroom, food, Wi-Fi and distance from town before booking. Some stretches are better for relaxed swimming; others have reef suitable for snorkelling when conditions allow. Kayaks may be available at individual camps, but availability and safety equipment should be confirmed locally.
This is a place where two or three nights work better than a rushed stop. Morning water, a long breakfast and an unplanned hour with the mountains across the gulf are part of the experience.
For snorkelling or paddling, use a buddy, check wind and wear a flotation device when appropriate. Slow travel is not the absence of activity—it is choosing fewer things and actually being present for them.
