Windsurfing and Kitesurfing at Dahab Lagoon: A Rider’s Guide

Dahab is one of Egypt’s established windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations, with shallow lagoon water and stronger-wind areas used by different levels. The lagoon is not one uniform playground: schools divide zones according to sport, ability, wind direction and local traffic.
Experienced riders should still begin with a local briefing. Launch rules, reef edges, gusts and rescue coverage are specific to each centre and day. Do not assume a flat-water session describes conditions outside the protected area.
Wind and water level change, so a forecast is only the starting point. Ask the centre what is actually working before rigging. Use equipment matched to the conditions rather than the size that looked right yesterday.
If riding is the main purpose of the trip, staying near Laguna reduces daily transport. If the trip mixes watersports with the town’s cafés and diving, choose accommodation after deciding which commute you are willing to repeat.
